One test for several applications

You can sit the TMUA only once per application cycle, and that one score goes automatically to every university on your UCAS application that uses the test. A Mathematics applicant could, for example, apply to Cambridge, Imperial, Warwick and LSE with a single sitting. You can't apply to both Oxford and Cambridge in the same year, but either can be combined with the others.

Which sitting to book

Most Oxford and Cambridge applicants must sit the TMUA in October. Other universities may accept the January sitting, but check each course's requirements before you rely on it. See TMUA dates, registration and fees.

Courses that don't use the TMUA

Most UK Mathematics, Computer Science and Economics courses don't ask for any admissions test. Some universities also use other assessments: Cambridge's Mathematics offers usually include STEP grades, for example, and engineering and science courses at several of these universities use the ESAT. See UK university admissions tests.

Check before you book

The list changes from one cycle to the next, and universities occasionally update their requirements during a cycle. Before booking, confirm the requirement on each course page, and check the UAT-UK course list for the year you are applying.
